During an atypical year marked by uncertainty due to the pandemic, ICTs took center stage by enabling Colombians to adapt to the new normal from their homes. At Gamma Ingenieros, a 175% increase in demand for cybersecurity and remote work services was observed, confirming that many companies continued to invest in digital transformation processes across organizations in the country.
Likewise, the company highlights that the sectors that invested the most in cybersecurity were the financial sector, due to regulations and the risks associated with loss of reputation or information; followed by the government sector, whose policies and guidelines are focused on delivering cyber-secure services to citizens; and finally, the education sector, which rapidly transitioned to virtual environments. A total of 65% of its sales come from these three sectors, followed by healthcare, retail, and small and medium-sized businesses, all of which are also experiencing rapid growth.
“This crisis led us to do things differently and to remain focused on protecting the most valuable asset a company has: its information. The pandemic also brought many concerns, but also many opportunities. Thanks to the tireless work of our interdisciplinary team, we exceeded expectations in sales indicators, achieving more than 120% in sales and increasing revenue by double digits. Most importantly, throughout the year we did not lay off any of our employees due to the pandemic,” explained Carolina Masso, Vice President of Sales and Manager of the Technology Business Unit at Gamma Ingenieros.
Among its achievements during 2020, the company highlights obtaining certifications from Carnegie Mellon University and joining the global incident response forum FIRST, along with recertification in ISO 27000. Together, these accomplishments strengthened the organization’s positioning and validated best business practices in service of its clients. Additionally, its hyperconverged data center line enabled companies to address challenges in processing and cybersecurity as they advanced on their journey toward reinvention through digitalization and cloud adoption (new offices, partnerships, new businesses, expansion into new cities, etc.).
Masso also added that expectations for the development of new lines such as OT/IoT cybersecurity and proactive services with artificial intelligence in the industrial sector will bring significant challenges. Companies must be able to anticipate cybersecurity incidents rather than wait for threats to materialize, maintain continuous training at different levels within the organization—especially at the C-level—and address many other key aspects to make decisions that enable resilience and the ability to face crises like the current one.
With more than 1,000 satisfied clients, including 5 educational institutions from the top 10 universities in Colombia, 4 banking organizations from the top 10 banks in the country, and 4 of the top 10 service operators, Gamma Ingenieros has established itself as one of the most important partners in Colombia, working alongside manufacturers such as Fortinet, Nutanix, F5, Darktrace, Netskope, Kaspersky, and RSA, among others.
This Colombian company, an expert in cybersecurity with more than 30 years of experience, has offices in Bogotá, Cali, Medellín, Barranquilla, and the Coffee Region. In 2020, it expanded into the eastern region with the opening of a new office in Bucaramanga and is preparing to grow its business into the Latin American market through strategic alliances with partners such as Fortinet and Synnex Westcon.
